Michael Cardenas is a Mexican American Director and Cinematographer based in Los Angeles and New York who came up through the Camera Department. His years operating, assisting, and running the department sharpened his sense of light, refined his camera movement, and shaped choices that serve the story.

In college he hit the road with national acts as a Director and DP, creating live and documentary content. After graduation he chose to build his foundation on set as a Camera Assistant and joined IATSE Local 600 as a First Assistant Camera.

 

Mentorship with Ron Goodman at SpaceCam Systems forged his path in Aerial Cinematography and high end stabilized camera systems. That path led to operating helicopter, drone, steadicam, and pursuit vehicle platforms.

He was accepted as an Active Member of the Society of Camera Operators in 2021, an organization that advances and honors camera operating through education and recognition.

Michael is focused on Directing and Cinematography for Commercials, Narrative, and Documentaries.
